English 120
English 120: College Composition II is the standard level English Class that most majors are required to take. It combines elements from English 110 that many, like me, can skip over based on how they performed on the ACT. Upon passing English 120 students are then given credit for 11O as well.

In the class you learn how to write in three distinct genres. You begin the class by writing a Profile on a certain Discourse community that you or someone you know is a part of. Following that you write a Rhetorical Analysis where you analyze two articles and talk about how they are effective and ineffective in what they want to say. Finally you finish the class off by writing a Proposal on a real world event and how to deal with that event.

I took English 120 my Spring semester of Freshman year at North Dakota State University. I was instructed by Ms. Jasmine Banasik and she led us through these three different types of writing. This class helped affirm that computer science was not right for me and that my strong suit was in writing.
