English 315: British Literature I
English 315: British Literature I introduces students to the world of British Literature. A broadview look at British literature and how it develops throughout the year.

In British Literature I there are three major essays. The first essay has students compose a close reading of one of the texts they have read up until that point. The text being Judith, Dream of the Rood, or Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Students are asked to discuss either the role of genre with regards to heroic values or the role of divinity in regards to heroic values. The second essay asks students to analyze The Book of Margery Kempe, The Faerie Queene, Shakespeare's sonnet sequence, Donne's soonets & elegy, and/or Wroth's sonnets. Students are suppose to discuss either the idea of journey, idea of devotion, or women representation in these works. For the final essay students were asked to either revise a previous essay or compose a brand new one.
I had the privilege of taking British Literature I the fall semester of my Junior year under the direction of Ms. Sharity Nelson at North Dakota State University. She introduced me to the world of British Literature and helped me become a better writer.
