My First Three Page Script Competition

In early 2022, I discovered that WriterDuet did an annual three-page script competition. They would give everyone a special prop that had to be incorporated somehow, and a central theme that the script had to follow. While many writers could probably fulfill both these criteria, there was one major catch. Every script had to be three pages, no more and no less.

Three pages with a clear beginning, middle, and end to the story. Three pages of characters that the judges had to connect with. Three pages that had to be interesting enough that there was no need for anymore pages. And if that was not hard enough, it had to be written in 48 hours if it wanted any chance of being considered.

The reward, a cash prize plus lifetime subscription to WriterDuet and professional script advice. It was an offer that was too good to pass up, and I had to try my hand at it.

The featured prop was sunglasses, and the theme was "Now or Never." While I was not able to take home the gold, and I did not even make it to the second round, I am still very proud of my first attempt at a competition like this, and I hope you enjoy it too.
